Neo Geo X Gold Coming December

If there’s one company I never thought I would hear about releasing a console, I’d have to say that it’s definitely SNK Playmore.

But looks like that’s the case. The company is prepping to launch a new home and portable console combo this year.

More details after the break.

SNK Playmore has revealed that they will be releasing the Neo Geo X Gold this December 6th in North America and Europe. The X Gold bundle will include the NeoGeo X Station, the X Joystick and the NeoGeo X Handheld. The X Handheld has a 4.3-inch LCD display, expandable game card slot, internal stereo speakers, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It also has 20 preloaded classic Neo Geo video games.

In addition to mobile gaming, you’re suppose to be able to dock the handheld to the X Console and play on your TV thanks to HDMI or AV outputs, while the handheld charges. You’ll be able to play with the X Joystick.

For those of us old enough to remember the astronomical prices of past Neo Geo consoles, there’s no need to worry. Instead of a $600 to $1,000 range, this combo is only going to cost a manageable $199.

The console is based off of the original AES console.

Okay Sega, I’m keeping my eyes on you next.
