Lion Forge Producing Comics On “Saved By The Bell” And “Knight Rider”

It looks like the 1980s will not die, at least not for 2013. Lion Forge Comics announced a that they reached a deal with NBCUniversal to produce digital comics based some of the television/film company’s most well known television hits of the 80s.

More info after the break.

Lion Forge Comics will produce digital comics based on Saved by the Bell, Punky Brewster, Miami Vice, Knight Rider and Airwolf.

Chris Lucero, the director of Global Consumer Products Licensing for NBCUniversal Television said:

“Partnering with the team at Lion Forge to bring classic TV properties to life in graphic novel format was a natural step for us as we continue to identify new ways to entertain our fans in the digital space. We’re excited to give fans a chance to revisit some of their favorite shows and characters in a completely new way.”

So far, the writers they’ve assembled for the comics have actually worked a few noteworthy projects.

For example Joelle Sellner has worked on Teen Titans and Jackie Chan Adventures and Geoffrey Thorne  has worked on Leverage and Ben 10. Other writers included are Jonathan London (Geekspace) and  David Gorden (Catalyst Prime: Accel and Catalyst Prime: Quincredible).Artists included are Jason Johnson (Wetworks, Godstorm) Carl Reed and Lorenzo Lizana.

The comics will be out later this year, through channels such as Amazon Kindle Bookstore, Apple iBooks, Barnes & Noble’s The Nook Book Store and Kobo.

I’m not sure if we ever really needed the further adventures of Zach Morris and Company, but I do detect some potential future memes from this.
