3 otaku characters left. 1 Sweet 16 spot up for grabs. It’s been such a long First Round, so why don’t we just get right to it, shall we?
Aladdin vs. Shogo Makishima vs. Kenshin Himura: Which character will be the final 1 to join 15 others in the second round of Fan Favorite? Help decide by voting after the break!
Wondering who you are is one thing, trying to find your purpose is another. This won’t stop Aladdin, instead he is driven to live by what he does not know. Experience and meeting new people is the best way to live life.
A little magic can also spice things up a bit. Being able to greet others with breast groping is also a plus. -Mike
Shogo Makishima (Psycho-Pass)
You love to hate him, or maybe you agree with him completely. Makishima is a steady but vicious genius who will go to extremes to seek out his humanistic pleasantries. Everything is a game, and everything can be quoted. The Sibyl System is flawed, but he’ll test it to bring out the worst in humans, and the ugly side that has been unleashed in recent weeks.
Makishima is a dangerous criminal but cannot be judged. Then you wonder, what is justice? If the only way to stop him is to use his cruel rules, then who is actually right? He makes you think even if you want to cast such dark thoughts aside. You’ll listen to his mercilessly great mind.
To stop him or fall to him, that’s your decision to make. -Anthony
Kenshin Himura (Rurouni Kenshin)
You can’t even handle my next pick: Rurouni Kenshin in the flesh. I defy anyone who doesn’t think Kenshin is amazing. For you Toonami and 2000s anime fans out there, you know this is no contest. And how do you even expect to go against the Battousai? For those who aren’t acquainted with this awesome dude, the basic rundown: Himura Kenshin, a master of Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu, a legendary assassin from the Bakumatsu, a reformed pacifist who carries a reverse blade katana, and the greatest klutz of 19th century Japan.
So with those cliff’s notes, how could you not love the live-action version, played by Takeru Satoh? I mean, have you seen it? This film is probably one of the greatest anime live-action movies I have ever seen! Seriously, even if you don’t vote for him, you have to admire the masterpiece that is Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu on the silver screen. Plus he was the perfect Kenshin, from his cut throat swordsmanship straight down to his “oro,” Takeru Satoh takes one of my favorite childhood characters and brought him to life in the best way possible. -Alex
