Anime Review: Arata: The Legend – 10

I feel like Arata: The Legend doesn’t realize it only has 2 episodes left to tell its story.

Let’s talk about pacing. Pacing is something that Arata: The Legend severely lacks. As of right now, it is trying to tell a story that should have been told EPISODES ago if this show was going to be a long-running shonen series. Which it isn’t. Thank god (if I had to cover it, I don’t know what I would do). At this point in the game, you can’t keep introducing new characters to “care” about and inserting new plotlines. At the end of this episode, Arata is tasked to help “save” another one of the twelve Shinsho. But we only have two episodes left? What is a hero to do?? But seriously, does anybody really care? Is there anybody besides me still watching this show?

The pacing here wouldn’t be so much of an issue if literally anything else about this show stood out at all. If the characters were fascinating, if the plot was unique, if the setting was detailed or interesting, I could easily look over the pacing issues here (for example, look at Flowers of Evil), but there is absolutely nothing. It is harder and harder to write about this schlock week after week because I just can not find it compelling in any way. Nothing here is keeping my interest and if I were not watching it for this cite, I would not be watching it at all.

With that being said, this was a solid episode. We had our little sider diversion, a new character we are supposed to care about, and an almost fight scene. The best part of the entire episode was when… yes, you guessed it, when Akachi stabbed Kadowaki in the eye (hehe)! YES, SWEET REVENGE! I LOVE IT! So are they friends now? A start of a new partnership? Destroying an eye makes a pact between the two? We will just have to wait and see!

All in all, this is yet another episode of Arata: The Legend. Now everyone, stay tuned for next week’s episode! It’s sure to be a big… bag of disappointment :(.

GO Rating: 2.5/5
